After a product obtains SIRIM certificate, there will be an obligation for manufacturers or suppliers to affix MCMC label or MCMC mark. All type approved telecommunications devices must have a valid certification mark in the form of an MCMC label to indicate the device complies with the technical standards and requirements enforced by MCMC Office. The MCMC mark must be associated with a unique SLP ID issued by SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd (SIRIM) and must be used in accordance with the guidelines specified in eCMC/DOC/04-1.

Since June 2015, MCMC and SIRIM have implemented new regulations, introducing a Self-Labeling Program (SLP) for certified telecommunications and multimedia products. With the implementation of the SLP, the certificate holders or the manufacturers are required to independently label their products in accordance with the specified guidelines for self-labeling. Below is the label format for all type approved telecommunications equipment in Malaysia.

SIRIM self labeling

Where MCMC is abbreviation name in English of Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, and ABCD15345678 is the SLP ID of certificate holder or manufacturer.

The MCMC label consists of the MCMC logo and manufacturer or supplier’s unique identification number. The SLP ID can use either the manufacturer identification number (CIDF) or certificate holder identification number (HIDF). The minimum size for an MCMC label is 8×8 mm. Usually, when the label being affixed on the equipment, the label must cover more than 1% of the product’s printable surface.

MCMC labels can be physical, engraved, embossed, or simply just a sticker on the equipment. Alternatively, the MCMC labels can also be a digital label for communication devices with displays, allowing users to easily verify the equipment’s certification status. The MCMC mark is important because it indicates that the product has met the technical standards of safety, quality, or compliance with specific regulations in Malaysia.
