New Announcement Concerning on WLAN Device With Frequency Band Outside of 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz

Eko Prasetyo

Dear Valued Customers and Friends,

Hope this announcement finds you well.

On Friday, March 15th 2019, SDPPI issued their official announcement number 250/KOMINFO/DJSDPPI/SP.04.03/03/2019. This announcement concerns about the application of WLAN Device with Frequency Band Outside of 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz

On this announcement, it’s explained that due to the lack of relevant regulation about WLAN device With Frequency Band Outside of 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz, so certificate application for telecommunication devices with WLAN feature that has frequency bands outside of 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz is mandatory to enclose declaration letter stating that applicants will be:

  1. Willing to lock frequency band except 2.4 GHz and 5.8 Ghz.
  2. Willing to take sanction if it will be found in the future that the device is not complied with the applicable regulation.

Below is the copy of SDPPI announcement for your reference.

Looking back to early 2018, SDPPI also issued a regulation draft concerning about addition of WLAN 5GHz frequency bands. In that regulation draft, there are several frequency allocations are planned to be added to WLAN 5 GHz. You can find the detail of this plan in here.

But, because the regulation draft hasn’t been finalized and not applied yet, so now it’s only 5725 – 5825 MHz is allowed for WLAN 5 GHz, and 2400 – 2483.5 MHz for WLAN 2.4 GHz.

Finally, that’s all we need to announce about the certification of WLAN Device With Frequency Band Outside of 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz. Should you have any question about this announcement, please be free to contact our contact window.

Best Regards!

  1. Hi, Thank you very much for sharing this good news. May I know if the WLAN devices within the range of 5725 – 5825 MHz and 2400 – 2483.5 MHz will be allowed to used in Indonesia without any local certification?
Thank you very much and best regards.

    • Hi Duc, thank you for leaving comments. This WLAN announcement is old actually, you may find the newer WLAN regulation which is still valid in: https://www.dimulti.id/blog/new-wlan-technical-requirements/

Yes, WLAN devices within the range of 5725 – 5825 MHz and 2400 – 2483.5 MHz are allowed to be used in Indonesia. However, the device that will use this frequency band needs to be standardized first (needs to do SDPPI certification). You may contact us on email [ eko.prasetyo@narmadi.com ] for more detailed information about this certification.

      Thanks
