Dear Customers and Friends,
Hope this announcement finds you well. From last year, we’ve been waiting for the issuance of new Short-Range Device (SRD) technical standard in Indonesia. This is a long-awaited regulation due to the possibility that the new standard will bring more allocations for some technologies that haven’t been allocated in before. Indeed, a glimpse of how this new Indonesia Short Range Device Requirements would look like has been shared by SDPPI (Directorate General under Minister of Communication and Information) for public consultation around July last year (please visit this link). But there’s still no news since then, until finally, after almost one year of waiting, we arrived at the final version of new SRD Technical Regulation called “Decree of Minister of Communication and Information of The Republic of Indonesia Number 260 of 2024 (KEPMEN KOMINFO NO 260 TAHUN 2024)”.
New Indonesia Short Range Device Requirements
KEPMEN KOMINFO NO 260 TAHUN 2024 is new Indonesia Short Range Device Requirements. This is a fresh air for the SRD Industry, especially because Indonesia is one of the major markets for SRD. And with the fact that the new regulation offers wider scope that it covers compared to the previous SRD regulation, things got more exciting. Then, what’s covered by the new SRD regulation? It is already stated in the “SRD definition” explained by the second dictum of this regulation: Short Range Devices telecommunications Tools and/or Equipment as referred to in this regulation includes:
Also Read
- Bluetooth IEEE 802.15.1;
- Near Fields Communications (NFC);
- Radio frequency Identification (RFIDs);
- Ultra-wide bands (UWB);
- Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Network IEEE 802.15.4;
- Cordless telephone;
- Wireless Power Transmission (WPT);
- Intelligent Transport System – ITS
- Telecommunications Tools and/or Equipment with Transmit Power lower than 10 m; And
- Other SRD.
In the event that there are telecommunications Tools and/or telecommunications equipment which are categorized as short-range devices other than the classifications above but have similar technical specifications, the technical standards for the mentioned telecommunications tools and/or equipment can follow the closest technical standards from one of the short-range device classifications above.
And for more detailed information about Indonesia Short Range Device Requirements, including frequency allocation, Maximum Tx Power, spurious emissions, test method, applications, and some other parameters, you may refer to the translated KEPMEN KOMINFO NO 260 TAHUN 2024 below.
Note:Please be informed that we don’t own the original source of the document. The original source is owned by Ministry of Communication and Informatics. And also, the document above is manually translated, so any translation error/mistake in the translated document is very possible. Double check to the original source is highly recommended.
With the issuance of this new regulation, it raises a question on whether the old reports based on previous SRD standard (PERDIRJEN SDPPI NO 161 Tahun 2019) are still accepted or not. Based on sixth dictum, it is explained that “Short range devices test results or test reports that have been issued before this Ministerial Decree comes into force, can still be submitted for certification of telecommunications tools and/or telecommunications equipment as long as they do not conflict with this Ministerial Decree and the provisions of statutory regulations.“
For those who wants to get official regulation document from SDPPI, which is presented in Indonesian language, you may click this link.
Lastly, when will this new Indonesia Short Range Device Requirements come into force? Based on the last dictum, it’s stated that this new Ministerial decree comes into force 90 (ninety) days from the date of stipulation. So, if the regulation was stipulated on May 13th, 2024, then it should come into force by August 11th, 2024.
That’s all we need to inform regarding the new Indonesia Short Range Device Requirements. If you have anything to confirm or consult regarding to this, feel free to drop an email to info@narmadi.com , or to our project handlers who are already in contact with you.
Best Regards!
