In United Arab Emirates, R&TTE approval certification is handled by Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA). Previously, it was known as Telecommunications Regulatory Authority or TRA, before it’s finally changed to TDRA in 2021. TDRA is a government authority established by UAE authority in 2003 with main function to ensure all wireless terminal, radio, and telecommunication equipment used, sold, or imported into UAE region are safe and do not cause any interferences with other neighboring equipment. Besides, this body is also responsible to keep the fairness, competitiveness, and sustainability for customers, service providers, or even shareholders in the country.
One of the responsibilities of TDRA is to set a telecommunication rule and regulations applied in the UAE. It’s also responsible for the standardization and licensing for all R&TTE equipment entering UAE territory. As the output, TDRA will issue compliance certificate for all products that have complied with UAE rules and standard. This certificate is called “TDRA Certificate”, simply because it is issued by TDRA. So, if you are manufacturer, importer, or seller of R&TTE products who wants to market your products to UAE region, please make sure TDRA certificate is obtained prior to the selling.

Obtaining UAE type approval certificate is very essential for the business, especially if you intend to sell your product within UAE region. Without this certificate, the product will potentially cause interference to other R&TTE products close to it. And if it happens, the product is potentially being the target of surveillance, closely monitored by authority, or being recalled by the authority.
