SNI Certificate Applicant

SNI Certificate Applicant

Who should be SNI certificate applicant? The answer of this question is vary, depending on the kind of product that will be certified. As we know, each product classification has its own regulation reference. And each of these references has its own definition about applicant or certificate holder. But, although the definition is vary, mostly they have one similar common thread, which is:

  1. For Local Manufacturer, the manufacturer is mandatory to obtain SNI certification.
  2. For imported products, the manufacturer (foreign company) is also mandatory to obtain SNI certification

Based on above information, foreign company can be SNI certificate applicant or holder. But in this case, there should be local company mentioned on the certificate as well. This local company can be local brand representative, importer, or distributor, and it holds a role as local representative. So, bottom line is “there will be 2 companies mentioned on the certificate: Foreign Manufacturer as certificate holder and Local Company as Local Representative of the product”.
