Currently, there are several customers questioning about why some of their RF products, were suspended or stopped by customs in the middle of the way during importation process to Indonesia. While in fact, these products have been certified by SDPPI type approval certification before. This case happens really often actually. And this issue causes many problems for both importer and manufacturers.
Based on our analysis, this problem is actually rooted in the purpose of SDPPI certification. Talking about purpose, we divide the purpose of SDPPI type approval certification into two basic purposes. The first is for “statement” or “Marketing”, and the second one is for “Importation”. For the first purpose, which is “statement”, here we define that the purpose of doing SDPPI type approval certification is to state that a certain RF product has been complied with the Indonesian regulation. So, manufacturer can attract more importer or distributor to distribute this product in Indonesia.
To achieve this purpose, the applicant should not always come from local entity such as local importer or local representative. But, it can be foreign entity such as foreign manufacturer, foreign company, foreign institution, and so on. But, one that should be emphasized here is if the certificate is hold by foreign entity, this certificate can’t be used to pass the customs. It leads us the second purpose of SDPPI certification.
The second purpose of doing SDPPI Certification is for Importation. It’s related to importing, marketing, and selling, the product in Indonesia. In this case, the certificate holder or applicant has to come from local entity such as local representative or local importer. So, the certificate will be issued under the name of local entity as the certificate holder. So, the certificate will be able to be used to pass customs, and do product marketing and selling in Indonesia legally.
In other words, to pass customs and able to be marketed in Indonesia, RF product should have SDPPI certificate under Local representative as Certificate holder.
What we conclude here is that, even if now there are no “A” or “B” mark on the certificate, local company (importer) that is about to market RF product in Indonesia, should have SDPPI Type Approval certificate of that product under its name as certificate holder.
