When starting type approval certification process, we may question the list of required documents that need to be submitted. Just take Egypt as an example. For most types of products, the approval certification there adopts full paperwork approach. The process ids performed by evaluating existing test reports, can be CE or FCC obtained by manufacturer prior to the submission. Although for some cases test samples are required to submit, but most of the Egypt Type approval certifications relies on the document evaluation. That’s why preparing the document as complete as possible in the beginning of the process is a must. Then, what are the documents required to obtain Egypt Type Approval certificate? Here’s the very list of it.
Document Requirements of Egypt Type Approval According to Applied Certification Scheme
As we know, Egypt Type Approval certificate is issued through three certification schemes: Light, intermediate, and tight. Light Scheme is applied if the manufacturer (brand owner) is accredited to ISO17025 in the product EMC testing. If that cannot be fulfilled, light application scheme can still be applied if the manufacturer (brand owner) meets all the following requirements:
- Has a branch located in one of the 1st or 3rd category countries
- This branch (as referred to in point 1) has got ISO certificate in the product design and development or the manufacturing scope.
- The referred ISO Certificate is issued by a Certification Body located in one of the 1st category countries and registered by IATF.
Lastly, if not all 3 requirements above can be met, but the factory is located in 1st category countries, the product can still apply Egypt Type Approval using the light application scheme.
- Moreover, intermediate application scheme is applied for products with factories located in the rest of the countries except those that are classified as 1st and 2nd country categories. And for tight application scheme, it is applied to the products that are manufactured in 2nd category countries; China and India. To help you identify country categories, here’s the list of countries that fall into 1st and 2nd country categories in Egypt:
- 1st categories countries: EU countries, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and (Taiwan/ PRC).
- 2nd category countries: China and India
- 3rd Category countries: rest of the countries except 1st and 2nd category countries.
As mentioned, each of these schemes has the different list of required documents. To assist you with each of the scheme, here’s the list of required documents based on three certification schemes available in Egypt;
Light Certification Scheme
- Type Approval Application Form (we will provide the draft later)
- Data Sheet & Operational Description of the product.
- ISO Certificates of the manufacturer (brand owner) if available.
- EU-Type Examination Certificate (if available)
- Manufacturer (brand owner) Declaration of Conformity Certificate.
- Complete compliance test reports according to European (CE) or American (FCC/UL) or International (IEC) standards. Reports need to be issued by any of the Light Scheme accredited labs mentioned in Table 2.
- Product External & Internal photos.
- Product Labeling Photos.
- Arabic Manual (For products targeting the public like mobile phones, home routers…etc).
Intermediate Certification Scheme
- Type Approval Application Form.
- Data Sheet & Operational Description of the product.
- ISO Certificates of the manufacturer (brand owner) if available.
- EU-Type Examination Certificate (if available)
- Manufacturer (brand owner) Declaration of Conformity Certificate.
- Complete compliance test reports according to European (CE) or American (FCC/UL) or International (IEC) standards. Reports need to be issued by any of the Light scheme accredited labs.
- Product External & Internal photos.
- Product Labeling Photos.
- Arabic Manual (For products targeting the public like mobile phones, home routers…etc).
Following documents shall be added only in case of manufacturing in Egypt:
- Manufacturing Permit issued by NTRA.
- A video for the manufacturing process in the Egyptian factory with its different stages.
Tight Certification Scheme
- Complete CE test reports issued in first step.
- VoC Certificate issued in first step.
- ISO Certificates of the manufacturer (brand owner) if available.
- Data Sheet & Operational Description of the product.
- Arabic user manual (For the products marketed to the public people like home and mobile phones, home routers…etc, ). The Arabic manual should mention the contact information of the translation entity which needs to be an entity accredited to ISO17100 or accredited by any governmental organization in any of the Arab countries.
- Type Approval Application Form.
