Some countries don’t require sample submission when processing type approval certification. This is because these countries can accept the test reports from accredited overseas test Labs, or adopting full paperwork approach in their compliance process. But, for some other countries, they may require applicant to send sample for verification purpose or even conducting a complete test in the in-country testing labs. That’s why when processing type approval certification in these countries, it is important to make sure whether or not there’s sample requirement in place.
For the case of Egypt Type Approval, or NTRA certification, generally samples are not required. NTRA can accept existing test reports from overseas testing lab as long as the reports comply with their standards. However, not all products can apply NTRA certification through full paperwork approach. For some products, especially those that have high risk level, the authority requires some samples to be submitted and tested in in-country testing Lab. Only after the test is declared as passed, then the compliance certificate can be issued.
So, what products are classified to have high risks and required to submit samples when processing Egypt Type approval? Here’s the list for your reference:
- Products classified as “Mobile Phone” or “Cellular Tablet”. This product classification requires to submit One Final (normal Sample) and One Wireless WAN Conducted Sample that has SMA interface connected to the cellular port of the product.
- Cellular Repeaters. This product needs to submit One conducted Sample providing N-Type or SMA interfaces to the MS (Mobile Station) and BS (Base Station) ports of the product.
- DECT Phone. For DECT phones, One Final sample needs to be submitted to NTRA.
So far, only those three product categories that require applicant to submit sample when processing NTRA approval. For other categories, we don’t need to provide samples at all. Meaning that the application can be processed with full paperwork method.
