Common AC Problems

Common AC Problems – Electronic devices that we use in our daily lives certainly have a period of use, and the air conditioners are not an exception.

This is not only experienced by one or two people, but all electronic users of various brands must experience this at a certain point in their life.

But can it be solved? Of course it can, for people who understand or are experts in the field of air conditioning will certainly understand problems like this and there is always a solution.

In this article we will discuss the common AC problems, along with the solutions. So without further ado, let’s get tuck in!

Common AC Problems

5 of The Most Common AC Problems

1. Leaking

Leaks in air conditioners can occur due to delays in routine servicing, which often appear suddenly.

If you do not regularly carry out maintenance, the air conditioner’s water drain can become clogged due to the accumulation of dust and dirt in the indoor unit.

In addition, water droplets can also be caused by condensation, which occurs due to the significant temperature difference between the AC pipes and the outside temperature.

This condensation problem often arises in air conditioners that are five years old or more, especially if the pipe wrapping has started to wear out.

To solve this problem, it is important to regularly clean the AC filter and perform monthly servicing.

Immediate action is highly recommended because if left unchecked, the leak can cause additional problems for the AC.

When the AC is not functioning properly, it can affect the performance of other components and disrupt the cooling system as a whole.

2. No Cool Air Flowing

There are two reasons why your AC is not sufficient enough in cooling the room.

First, there might be technical problems such as lack of refrigerant pressure, accumulation of dirt on your AC unit or your AC unit’s compressor experiencing a malfunction.

Go and call your trusted technician to solve this problem before further damaging your AC unit.

The other reason is non-technical problems that can make the AC less cool include a mismatch between the size of the room and the AC’s power, improper remote AC settings, or too high heat load due to the room being exposed to direct sunlight.

If you are facing any of these problems, it is important to consult with an AC expert to determine which type of AC is suitable for your room size and environmental conditions.

3. Blowing Warm Air

If you feel the hot air from your air conditioner making the room uncomfortable, it is likely that the air conditioner compressor is overheating.

Usually, this problem is accompanied by noise and a weak, warm breeze. The cause could be too high of a refrigerant pressure or a leak in the AC system.

In such a situation, it is best to replace the AC compressor to avoid excessive use of electrical energy.

For compressor replacement, it is advisable to contact a professional AC technician to ensure proper installation and effective troubleshooting.

4. Unpleasant Smell Coming From Your AC

The problem of air conditioners that emit unpleasant smells is usually caused by 4 things:

  • Dirty or rarely cleaned AC components
  • Refrigerant leaks
  • Short circuits

5. Turning On and Off Repeatedly

Short-cycling problems in air conditioners occur when the unit turns on and off repeatedly without completing a full cooling cycle. This can damage the compressor and lower efficiency.

Common causes include a clogged air filter, an inaccurate thermostat, or an AC size that is too large for the room.

Air leaks or poor ventilation can also trigger short cycling. Additionally, damage to the compressor or other components in the system may also be to blame.

Addressing these issues requires cleaning or replacing the filter, calibrating or replacing the thermostat, ensuring the AC is sized appropriately, repairing leaks, or checking for component damage.

Well, there you have it!! The 5 most common AC problems!

Did you know you can prevent those problems by choosing the AC that has been certified by the SNI certification in Indonesia?

Yup, the AC is one of the many products that are mandatory to be certified by the SNI certification.

This is because the risk of an air conditioner might be concerning for the Indonesian consumers, as the air conditioner that is not properly manufactured can cause a failure and can even be dangerous for its users.

The air conditioner that is about to be distributed in Indonesia must undergo a series of tests to determine its quality and safety.

After all of those tests have passed and the air conditioner is met with the requirements that have been set, the air conditioner is ready to be distributed and sold in the Indonesian market.

For the air conditioner and other household electrical devices, the regulation is clearly stated in SNI IEC 19-6713-2002.
