1. Tankless Water Heater
The first one is the tankless water heater or sometimes called instant water heater. Unlike traditional water heaters that store hot water, tankless models heat water instantly as you need it.
It operates by using a series of extremely hot coils to quickly heat the cold water stream. Because the tankless water heater only heats water when it’s needed, this is a huge advantage in cost and energy efficiency compared to tank water systems.
They use either gas or electricity to heat up special chambers (heat exchangers) through which the water flows.
It usually lasts much longer than the traditional tank water heater, with a span life of up to 20 years with proper maintenance although the initial cost is much higher than it is with the tank water heater.
Also, because this type of water heater does not have a tank, you don’t have to worry about wasting power to heat and reheat the water.

2. Tank Water Heater
The next one is the more traditional tank water heater. This type of water heater is sometimes also called the storage water heater.
They use gas or electricity to heat a tank of water (usually 20 to 80 gallons) located at the bottom. Once hot, the water is stored for later use.
Additionally, natural gas or electricity are the two main power sources for tank water heaters. However, other tank water systems also utilize oil or LPG as it power source.
Well, the tank water heater has an advantage in terms of the simplicity of its installation and cheaper initial cost.
But there is the major drawbacks for the tank water system is its efficiency and cost-effectiveness because it’ll switch back on to reheat the water to the desired temperature once the hot water is used or enough time has passed for the water to cool.
