You can also use a drum, pulley, or sheave that matches the diameter of the wire rope to guarantee a safe bending radius.

5. Reduced Efficiency

The last thing that causes the damage on the wire rope is usage time of the wire rope itself.

As time passes, wire ropes that are used continuously and intensively will experience a decrease in strength and also capacity of the wire ropes.

Initially, the wire fiber on a wire rope may suffer minor damage, but eventually this minor damage can result in a total capacity decrease on the rope.

In addition, exposure to high temperatures can also weaken the wire rope material, especially if the wires are used in applications involving high heat. 

Another thing to mention is poor maintenance that can result in damage to the wire rope which will ultimately reduce its capacity.
