Lead time of processing Indonesia Type Approval certification can be varied. This depends on the application method that we chose to do. For your information, there are three application methods available in Indonesia: Local Test, Paperwork, and Partial.
Local Test
Local test means that in order to obtain test reports required for DJID application, we do local test in Indonesian testing laboratories. There are several types of tests required, which are:
- Radio Frequency (RF) test,
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) test,
- Electrical Safety,
- Laser Safety, and
- Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) test.
Of course, not all these tests are required by all products. Electrical Safety Test is only required if the product is supplied by direct AC power, or when the product must be continuously supplied by AC/DC adapter. Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) test is only required by mobile phone and tablet only. And laser safety test is required by the products that have optical interface.
Lead time of doing local test can be varied, it depends on which test laboratory that we choose to do the test. But approximately, local test can be finished within 3-4 weeks, assuming that there’s no issue during the testing.
After tests are finished, we need to submit the test reports along with other application and technical documents to DJID website to issue the certificate. Before the certificate is issued, there will be evaluation process toward what we have submitted. Evaluation usually takes about 24 hours. However, when the queue is long, evaluation time can be more than 24 hours. So, it depends on the queue. Below is the process from the submission date to certificate issuance for your reference.

In general, we can conclude the lead time to obtain DJID certificate through local test route is around 4-5 weeks.
Paperwork
Paperwork means that to apply DJID certificate, we use the test reports issued by DJID-recognized test laboratory outside of Indonesia. Therefore, we don’t need to do product testing in the local laboratory. So basically, the process of paperwork application is exactly the same as “Evaluation Process” mentioned in the “Local Test” topic above. The Lead time from application submission to certificate issuance is approximately3-5 working days. Below is the timeline of paperwork application.

Partial Paperwork
As mentioned earlier, there are several test reports are required to apply DJID approval. For example, common consumer product only needs Radio Frequency (RF), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and electrical safety test reports. Sometimes, the RF test report of the product is issued by DJID-recognized international test Lab, but the electrical safety and EMC test reports are not. Or, when the RF and EMC test reports are issued by DJID-recognized international test Lab, while the Electrical safety test report is not.
In that case, we can do local test only for the type of test that has no report issued by DJID-recognized test Lab. So, at the end, test reports used in this application are combination from local laboratory test report and international Laboratory test report. For this partial application, usually the lead time is slightly shorter than full local test application, or depends on what type of test that will be conducted in Indonesian testing Lab.
Why We Care
Lead time is something very important in Indonesia Type Approval certification, especially when it comes to the scheduling or forecast. By understanding the lead time, we can arrange the follow up schedule of post-approval activity. Therefore, product can be released and comes to the market in time, based on target schedule. In Dimulti, we define the lead time clearly in the first place. When starting approval, our expert will let you know the lead time depending on the type of approval methods chosen. Besides, we will also help you to navigate which steps to take, so we can shorten the lead time.
