In this book, Dr. Arnot claims that drinking coffee several times a day can boost the metabolism, burn more fat, block calorie absorption and decrease your appetite.

The book was inspired after Dr. Arnot studied the people living in Ikaria, a small island located in Greece, which has a large population of healthy elderly people.

He implied that the secret to the health and longevity of the Ikaria people is due to their high intake of antioxidant-rich coffee.

How To Do The Coffee Diet?

Coffee Diet

1. Choose The Right Coffee

Light roast coffee tends to be richer in polyphenol antioxidants than medium or dark roasting. Therefore, light roast coffee is better for those on a diet.

Also, opt for black coffee without any additives. You can buy whole beans and grind them yourself at home using a coffee grinder.

Drinking coffee without sugar can help you limit your intake of excess calories into your body.If you are concerned about pesticide content in coffee, you can consider buying organic coffee beans.

2. Coffee Drinking Limits Per Day

For optimal health, one is recommended to drink only 150-450 milliliters of coffee per day, or the equivalent of a maximum of 400 milligrams of caffeine.

Consuming too much coffee can trigger side effects such as heart palpitations, stomach disorders, and metabolic disorders.

3. Drink Coffee at Specific Times

Coffee is best consumed between 10am and 3pm. After 3pm, drinking coffee is no longer recommended as it can disrupt your sleep at night.

Instead of the diet benefits of coffee, insomnia at night can actually interfere with health. Insomnia also has the potential to increase body weight.

4. Avoid Creamer

Indeed, creamer is a component that is commonly used by people to increase the enjoyment of the coffee consumed.

Unfortunately, adding creamer is not recommended because of its high fat content and sugar content. The result can actually thwart your weight loss diet.

Instead of creamer, to add a creamy effect to coffee, it is better to use liquid cow’s milk such as fresh milk or UHT milk.
