Love it or hate it, ironing is a task we all face! Whether it’s a chore you find therapeutic or a time-consuming hassle, there’s no denying that ironing can make your clothes look polished and crisp.

But with so many iron types, how do you choose the right one for the job? Fear not! This guide will explore the different types of irons and when each one shines, helping you achieve that wrinkle-free look.

4 Types of Irons

1. Rotary Press

Rotary irons are most commonly used in commercial settings, and you’ll most unlikely find it in regular households.

These machines can handle anything from bed sheets to clothes, thanks to their large rolling surface.

While they might have complex settings, the end result is perfectly ironed laundry, no matter the size or type.

2. Steam Ironing

Unlike its counterpart the rotary press, steam irons are the go-to choice for most homes aside the traditional dry irons.

And also unlike their dry iron ancestors, they tackle wrinkles on a wider range of fabrics, from delicate silks to sturdy linens.

The steam iron uses steam (obviously) to work on stubborn creases, making light work of even a pleated cotton skirt.

Forget ruining lace with high heat as a steam iron handles it all with ease. And it’s not just for home use, professional services rely on steam irons for crisp shirts and other garments too.

3. Dry Ironing

Dry irons, the old faithful of ironing, live up to their name. These simple machines offer basic temperature control and might require a separate spray bottle for tricky fabrics or stubborn wrinkles.

Though a bit hefty, they’re a good choice for disinfection tasks, like ironing baby clothes or cotton underwear, thanks to the dry heat.

4. Mobile Steamers

Mobile steamers are great for vertical ironing especially with extra thin and delicate fabrics such as tulle, silk and chiffon.

Dresses, tuxedos, shirts, fine curtains and other garments are usually the types of clothes that the mobile steamers usually used on.

This type of ironing is also being the fashion designers’ favorite tool, as they usually use it to straighten any imperfection last-minute before the models walk on the runway.

So there you are the 4 types of ironing for you to choose to crisp up your appearance.

One thing that is worth considering is you need to choose the irons that have already been certified with SNI Certification.

What SNI certification, you say? Well, to put it simply SNI certification is a type of approval that is applied in Indonesia.

This certification is to ensure that every product that is sold and distributed in Indonesia is up to Indonesian policy of safety and quality, thus making it more assuring.
