Not only for cooling the room in your house, ceiling fans have transformed into a popular interior design component, thanks to the more aesthetically appealing design.

But, with a lot of options, choosing one might confuse you a little bit. So, with that being said, we will give you some of the types of ceiling fans to make it easier for you to choose. Let’s get tuck in!

Types of Ceiling Fans

Let's Explore the 7 Different Types of Ceiling Fans

1. Standard Ceiling Fans

The first one is the standard ceiling fans that usually have a size between 122 cm to 132 cm in diameter. These ceiling fans are also the most you can find in the market.

Generally, the standard ceiling fans are extended from a downrod, which is a metal pipe that connects the fan’s mounting to the motor housing.

This will allow the fan to be mounted on different ceiling conditions, whether it’s flat, or sloped.

One thing to consider when choosing this type is to measure the distance between the blade and the ground to allow a safer traffic flow beneath the fan.

The general rule of thumb is make a clearance at least seven feet from the ground to the fan’s blade.

2. Low Profile Ceiling Fans

This one is almost the same as the previous one that we’ve mentioned earlier with the exception that low profile ceiling fans are designed to be installed in a room with low ceilings.

If the standard ceiling fan uses a long downrod to connect the fan to its mounting, low-profile ceiling fans are mounted directly to the fan’s mounting and usually just dropping only about 20cm from the ceiling.

With that being said, the low-profile ceiling fan is a great choice for you if you want your room to looks less clustered and giving it a more open space feeling.

3. DC Ceiling Fans

The DC ceiling fans or direct current fans are among the most energy-efficient ceiling fans available on the market.

It is because it uses a motor that enables them to deliver superior airflow while consuming very little energy thus reducing your electricity bills.

Not only that, the DC fan’s motor is compact and light and also quiet, with the fan in whole usually featuring slim designs that blend seamlessly into your interiors.

4. Ceiling Fans with Lights

If you’re thinking about putting an ambient light in your room but unsure where to put it, the ceiling fans with lights might be a great choice for you.

Like its name implies, these ceiling fans are equipped with a light that can create a comfy ambience throughout your room while still providing a cool breeze.

5. Retractable Blade Ceiling Fans

These are one of my favorites, these fans have a blade that can be retracted if turned off, and will unfold if you turn it on thus giving a modern and clean looks to your room

6. Outdoor Ceiling Fans

These are the fans that are specifically designed to be put on the outside instead of the inside of your home.

Not only will it give you a cool breeze during a hot summer day, the outdoor ceiling fans can also keep pesky bugs away, providing comfort during a hang with family or friends.

In addition to that, these fans can also come with lights. Most outdoor ceiling fans are made from ABS plastic or marine grade stainless steel blades to withstand outdoor conditions.

There are also coastal ceiling fans, which are outdoor ceiling fans that are specifically designed to be put on an area with salty air and high humidity level.

7. Reverse Mode Ceiling Fans

Last but definitely not least, there is a reverse mode ceiling fan that can be turned both clockwise or counter-clockwise. These fans can be used not only during hot summer days, but also during a cold winter.

In reverse mode the blades change direction to spin clockwise which pushes the warm air downward thus warming you and the whole room.

So there you have it! The 7 types of ceiling fans to choose for your lovely home!
