Benefits of Avocado Oil

Benefits of Avocado Oil – If you’ve ever eaten an avocado, you’ll probably find that it’s different from other fruits.

Unlike most fruits, avocados are rich in healthy fats and are often used to produce oil. And although not as well-known as olive oil, avocado oil is just as delicious.

Its mild flavor and high smoke point make it quite a popular cooking oil. Avocado oil is very similar to olive oil in terms of uses and nutritional value.

And just like olive oil, cold-pressed avocado oil is unrefined and will retain some of the flavor and color of the fruit, giving it a greenish appearance.

Avocado oil is also often applied directly to the skin as a moisturizer, and can be found in many cosmetics and skincare products.

When produced for external applications, the oil is usually refined and bleached, giving it a pale yellow color.

So, what are the benefits of avocado oil? Let’s find the answer in today’s article only at dimulti.id!

Benefits of Avocado Oil

Benefits of Avocado Oil

Avocado oil has many health benefits, most of which are related to its antioxidant and healthy fat content.

Here are some of the benefits of the avocado oil that we’ve summarized just for you!

1. Rich in Oleic Acid

The first one is that avocado oil is rich in oleic acid. Which is a component that is also commonly found in olive oil.

Almost 70% of avocado oil consists of heart-healthy oleic acid, which is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid.

This fatty acid is also believed to be partly responsible for its health benefits as

most studies show that a diet rich in unsaturated fats is beneficial to health and may reduce the risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease and dementia.

2. Helps Lower Cholesterol

The second benefit of avocado oil is to lower cholesterol. Avocado oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, associated with better heart health.

In a study on 13 subjects, participants were first given either a control meal using butter (25 grams of saturated fat) or a test meal (25 grams of unsaturated fat) with avocado oil.

Over a period of 240 minutes after the meal, blood samples on the subjects showed that the group that ate the test meal using avocado oil had significantly lower total cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol compared to the control group.

Although these results are promising, a further research is still needed.

3. High in Lutein

The third benefit of avocado oil is that it is high in lutein. Avocados and their oil are good sources of lutein, which is a carotenoid and antioxidant that is found in the eye hence many people think of lutein as “the eye vitamin”.

Studies have shown that a diet rich in lutein is essential for eye health, and can potentially reduce the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration, which are common age-related eye diseases.

Well, since your body doesn’t produce lutein on its own, you have to get this nutrient from food. Fortunately, adding avocados and avocado oil to your diet is a great and easy way to support your eye health.

4. Improves Nutrient Absorption

The fourth benefit of avocado oil is to enhance the absorption of essential nutrients.

Well, you should know that there are some nutrients that need to be combined with fat so that the body can absorb them properly, for example, vitamins A, D, E, and K are easier to absorb when dissolved in fat.

Unfortunately, many fruits and vegetables rich in nutrients are low in fat.

Therefore, adding avocado oil or other types of fat to your diet can help you absorb these nutrients better.

5. Reduces Arthritis Symptoms

The next one on our list of benefits of avocado oil is to reduce the symptoms of arthritis. Arthritis is a common disease that involves painful joint inflammation. This condition also affects millions of people around the world.

While there are many types of arthritis, the most common is osteoarthritis, which is associated with the breakdown of cartilage in the joints.

Numerous studies have found that extracts from avocado and soybean oil, called avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU), can reduce the pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis.

In particular, ASU is believed to benefit people suffering from osteoarthritis of the hip and knee.

6. Good for Your Skin

Avocado oil is rich in fatty acids and nutrients that are beneficial for the skin. Like vitamins A and E, avocado oil is also believed to be good for the skin and help with wound healing.

Therefore, eating foods rich in unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins A and E, and antioxidants may be associated with healthier skin.

However, avoid applying avocado oil directly on open wounds. Instead, purchase products containing avocado oil.

This is because products containing avocado oil are more formulated for external use and may reduce allergies and other side effects.

7. Rich in Antioxidant

The last benefit of avocado oil is that it is rich in antioxidants.

This antioxidant-rich diet can help your body to fight free radicals, which are unstable compounds that can damage cells over time.

When an imbalance occurs, this can lead to oxidative stress and can cause conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer.

Therefore, fortunately, avocado oil contains a large amount of antioxidants that are beneficial to your health, such as carotenoids, as well as tocopherols (a form of vitamin E).
