Ease and simplicity are now become the main selling point of a charging device. Besides the charging speed, the ability to charge the ICT devices simply without having so much hassle is key for manufacturer to be able to sell their charging products in this fast-paced environment. And this is why the development of charging technique and/or method is something unavoidable, walking side to side with the development of ICT product itself.
To accommodate this, Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure (DJID) does continuous efforts to establish Wireless Charging standard that is relevant with the development of wireless charger technology. This is done to provide warranty for both users and manufacturers, so that their charging devices can perform optimally without causing any interference or without being interfered by other devices. And this is the background of issuing a new regulation called “KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 46 TAHUN 2025”
What KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 46 TAHUN 2025 is About?
KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 46 TAHUN 2025 was announced by Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure (DJID) on February 25th, 2025. This is a new technical regulation which mainly talks about the standards of Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) technology. For those who are not familiar, WPT is another term that’s usually used to refer “Wireless Charging”. So, if your phone, your smartwatch, smart ring, or TWS can be charged simply by putting it on a charging pad, this means that those use wireless charging technology.

Some of us may already know that Wireless Power Transmission is regulated within SRD technical standard, which is KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 260 TAHUN 2024. This regulation is quite new and currently is still active. So, with the issuance of KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 46 TAHUN 2025, won’t it make both regulations overlap with each other? the answer is no. The reason of why KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 46 TAHUN 2025 won’t overlap on what’s stated on KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 260 TAHUN 2024 is because in the sixth dictum of KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 46 TAHUN 2025, it states:
When this Ministerial Decree comes into effect, the technical standards for wireless power transmission stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Communication and Information Number 260 of 2024 concerning Technical Standards for Short Range Devices are revoked and declared invalid.
Therefore, we can say that the issuance of new WPT technical regulation doesn’t withdraw KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 260 TAHUN 2024 in general. It only withdraws the provision of Wireless Power Transmission technical standard stated in the KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 260 TAHUN 2024.
What’s New on KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 46 TAHUN 2025?
What’s new in KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 46 TAHUN 2025? Generally, this regulation explains the technical requirements of wireless power transmission in more detailed requirements compared to what’s stated on the previous regulation. One thing that is notable the most is the rearrangement of current frequency allocation as well as the addition of some new frequency allocations. the detail is as followed:
- First, the in the new regulation, it simplifies the following frequency allocations from previous WPT standard: 100 – 119 kHz, 119 – 135 kHz, 135 – 140 kHz, and 140 – 148.5 KHz. Now, all these frequency bands are merged into one single range, which is 100 – 148.5 kHz, with test method refers to EN 300 330 or EN 300 417.
- Besides the already existing 6765-6795 MHz (test method refers to EN 300 330 or EN 300 417), in the new technical regulation, DJID added some new additional frequency allocations as followed:
- 315-405 kHz (test method refers to EN 300 330)
- 1700-1800 kHz (test method refers to EN 300 330), and
- 13,553-13,567 MHz (test method refers to EN 300 330)
- Moreover, in the new KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 46 TAHUN 2025, it’s already specified that WPT product is only allowed to use integrated antenna.

Lastly, some of us may be wondering when this new regulation will come into force. Regarding this matter, it’s already stated in the seventh dictum of this regulation. It states that this Ministerial Decree shall come into force on the date of stipulation, which is February 18th, 2025. Therefore, this regulation is already active since February 18th 2025.
That’s all we need to announce regarding the KEPMEN KOMDIGI NO 46 TAHUN 2025 about the new technical standard of Wireless Power Transmission.
