This time, the main topic discussed in this draft is about the technical standard of telecommunication devices operate using LMR or Land Mobile Radio technology. Such an interesting topic, right? Considering that LMR plays a big role in today\u2019s communication system, it is important for industry player like manufacturer, distributor, or importer of LMR products to see the updates brought by this new regulation draft. But before that, let&#8217;s talk briefly about what LMR technology is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Land Mobile Radio (LMR)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>LMR stands for Land Mobile Radio. This is a communication system utilizing radio frequency to deliver audio signal. Each LMR device acts as both transmitter and receiver, enabling the device to establish two-way radio communication system between users. To use LMR communication device, a very simple mechanism called \u201cPush-To-Talk\u201d or PTT is applied. Users only need to push the button and speak. Then, the device will automatically transmit the audio signal. After finish, user need to release the button, and the device will be automatically changed to receiving mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Common example of LMR device is portable or handheld LMR like handy talkies or walkie talkies. Beside the portable\/handheld, LMR placement is also stationary like in the base station units, and mobile when the LMR device is fixed into the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many industries choose to use LMR for various purposes, including for commercial and public safety. The reason of choosing LMR is due to its reliability, and the ruggedness of the equipment. Yes, most LMR devices are built as rugged communication device with can withstand various type of conditions. Other reasons are because numerous security options that the LMR devices offers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">LMR Technical Regulation Draft for Public Hearing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering the wide range of LMR usage, Indonesian Communication and Digital Ministry keeps polishing the technical regulation of this technology in order to provide safety and quality to the users. This July, new LMR Technical Regulation Draft are issued for public hearing. Based on DJID announcement in <a href=\"http:\/\/LMR Technical Regulation Draft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this link<\/a>, here are some highlights to note:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>EMC requirements have been updated to comply with the international standard CISPR 32 or ETSI EN 301 489;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electrical safety requirements have been updated to comply with IEC 60950-1 or IEC 62368-1;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Land Mobile Radio devices are divided into three types: conventional radio devices, trunked radio devices, and private mobile radio devices;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conventional and trunked radio devices are divided into four groups: handheld, mobile, base\/repeater, and radio modem;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Device operating frequency restrictions have been revised from the previously broad range (for example, previously, UHF devices were permitted to operate at frequencies of 300-3000 MHz) to those adjusted to TASFRI allocations and the prevalence of devices manufactured by vendors (for example, in this Technical Regulation Draft, UHF devices are permitted at frequencies of only 300-470 MHz, thus 450-512 MHz devices are not permitted);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test parameters are limited to those capable of avoiding harmful interference, including operating frequency, channel spacing, conducted output power, spurious emissions, and frequency error\/frequency stability.
