KEPMEN KOMINFO NO 177 TAHUN 2024

Dear Customers and Friends! Hope this announcement finds you in a good health.

Another announcement was issued by SDPPI last Thursday, March 21st, 2024. It is about the implementation of Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Head limitations for mobile telephone and tablet computer. This policy is in accordance with the newly issued “Kepmen Kominfo No 177 Tahun 2024”.

Background

In order to provide safety for the users and to prevent negative health impact caused by the use of telecommunications equipment, Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemkominfo), through its Directorate General of Post and Informatics Resources and Equipment (Ditjen SDPPI), enforced the obligation of doing Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) test for mobile telephone and tablet computers devices, and make it as one of the requirements of telecommunications equipment certification.

As a legal basis, Kominfo issued a new regulation called “Kepmen Kominfo Nomor 177 Tahun 2024” which concerns about “Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) limitation for Mobile Phone and Tablet Computer products”. From this regulation, we can see how this SAR test obligation is actually implemented. So, for easier understanding, below is the translated document of Kepmen Kominfo Nomor 177 Tahun 2024 for your reference.

Please be informed that we don’t own the original source of the document. The original source is owned by Ministry of Communcation and Informatics. If you want the original source of this document, you may refer to the official website of Communication and Informatics Ministry in this link. And this link is official announcement from SDPPI.

Finally, with the issuance of Kepmen Kominfo No 177 Tahun 2024 and the implementation of SAR testing obligation for mobile phones and tablet computers, it is expected that users will feel safe to use their devices without having to be worried about health risks caused by the electromagnetic radiation.
