Especially in the countries that apply paperwork or document review approach in issuing certificate, the compliance and correctness of the submitted documents become the main consideration before deciding whether the application can be accepted or not. Therefore, if the countries that you’re targeting apply paperwork or document approach, you better pay more attention when preparing the documents.

One example of country that adopt paperwork or document review approach in issuing telecommunication product approval is Australia. Well, the process is not actually called “Type Approval Certification”. Rather, it’s called Self-Declaration of Conformity or SDoC. This is because the compliance is not granted but declared by the manufacturer themselves according to Certification Body’s statement.

And to obtain this statement, manufacturer needs to submit existing RF, EMC, and safety reports issued by accredited test lab to certification body to be evaluated. Australia Type Approval accepts international test report issued according to international standards such as CE and FCC. However, CE is commonly more acceptable than FCC. This is because Australia does benchmark with the European standards. So, what are the list of required documents to process Australia Type Approval? Here is the list:

Specification sheet

Product photos

Device label to include RCM,

User instructions,

Full CE RF reports and CE Safety Reports

Importer information

Besides the requirements mentioned above, we also need to provide the details of the importer. This importer will be the signatory of SDoC certificate once the SDoC draft is issued by the Certification Body. So, prior to applying for Australia Type Approval, it’s suggestable to have Local Representative or importer information. And this importer must be registered in the government portal as well.

Why We Care

As mentioned earlier, Australia Type Approval process relies on the paperwork application. That’s why the completeness of the documents is important. Because if there’s shortcomings in the document, then the application will be instantly rejected. If the application is processed with us, we will make sure that the documents are all completed and acceptable, then we can start to process the approval. Therefore, the SDoC certificate can be issued timely, according to the manufacturer’s estimate.

Document plays an important role in an approval certification process.
