Legal reference of this practice is on Communication and Informatics Ministry Regulation Number 3 year of 2024 or “PERMEN KOMINFO NO 3 TAHUN 2024” article 25 – 28. According to this regulation, DJID label consists of three components:

Identity

Identity consists of DJID certificate number and PLG ID. As its name, a “certificate Numbers” is the certificate series number, whereas PLG ID is customer’s or applicant’s ID in DJID database. One applicant has one PLG ID, and this ID will be the same for all certificates processed by this applicant. Both DJID certificate numbers and PLG ID are mentioned on the certificate. And for the label, there’s certain format that must be followed; certificate number must be placed on top of the PLG ID. And then, both should be framed inside a square box.

QR Code

QR or Quick Response Code is two-dimensional code consisting of blocks and DJID logo in the center part of it (old format of QR code may not have DJID logo). When scanned, this code will direct the scanner to open a link to the certificate database in DJID website. There, some information such as brand name, equipment name, model name, origin country, certificate owner, and certificate number will be available to check.

Warning Sign

Warning sign is basically a warning statement to forbid buyers or users to modify product specification because it can possibly cause any interference to the surroundings. Warning signs consists of exclamation mark inside of triangle. Then, there’s a warning statement underneath.

To give you better understanding about each label components, here’s the example three DJID label components;

Where to Get the Label?

All these three components of DJID label; Identity, QR Code, and Warning Signs, are downloadable from DJID website by logging in into applicant’s DJID account. Once the certificate is issued, label download link will be activated. We can just download the label directly from the link and affix those into either “both the product and packaging” or to the product only. We’re not allow to modify anything from the downloaded label, only the colors that are allowed to be modified into black-and-white style. This is allowed due to the consideration that many existing label printers nowadays are still using black-and-white colors.

Label Placement

According to the PERMEN KOMINFO NO 3 TAHUN 2024, labels (including the identity, QR code, and warning signs) must be affix on both products and packaging. In the case of product size is too small so that it is not possible to affix the label on any surfaces of the product, it is allowed to affix DJID label on packaging only. Affixing label on user manual, compliance sheet, or any documentations that come with the product is only allowed when the product is “pre-installed” into another host product, or when the product doesn’t come with any packaging.

Regarding the method, DJID label can be affixed in the by:

Doing Emboss, deboss, or printing directly to the product or packaging;

Sticking or attaching the label directly to the product or packaging; or

Install the label digitally on the telecommunications device.

Label Reporting Obligation

Within 30 days from the certificate issuance date, applicant is mandatory to report DJID label application by uploading label application photos into DJID website. These photos must show DJID label application on either “both the product and packaging” or on the product only.

If within 30 days the applicant hasn’t uploaded photos of label application yet, DJID will send first warning letter via email. Along with this warning letter, there will be 14 days of grace period to upload the photos again. If within 14 days of grace period the label is still not uploaded yet, there will be second warning letter with another 14 days of grace period. If within this period applicant still hasn’t uploaded the label photos again, DJID will send third or final warning letters, which means sanction (applicant not being able to submit any certificate application for the next 6 month).

For better understanding, below is the DJID Label Upload Timeline

Why We Care

For manufacturer, labelling or marking is an important part of the approval process. This is the final steps before they can actually close the whole approval process, and also the first step before the products can actually go into the market. On the customer side, compliance label is the first step of knowing that the product already comply with the applicable standard. From here, customers can be ensured with the safety aspect of the product, and they can use the product with a peace of mind.

However, in the real case, many products are not correctly labelled due to the misinterpretation of the labelling rule from the regulation. This can cause many troubles, especially when authority conducts in-border or post border surveillance. In some cases, certified products are caught by the authority with the allegation of not having compliance certificate just because the label is not applied correctly. And cases like this can lower public’s trust which also affects on manufacturer’s reputation.

Therefore, to make sure that compliance label is applied correctly, we want to make sure that every details of labelling rules are correctly transferred and understood by our customers. Certainly, we don’t want you to miss a thing! And together, we want to make sure that you products can be delivered well into the market.
