In the recent years, Vietnam has grown to be one of the leading industries in Southeast Asia. When China started to have tension with the west, many western companies moved their factory to Vietnam, making the country grows in terms of economics and technology acquisition. Besides, Vietnam is one of the countries with high population in Southeast Asia. With its emerging economics and high population that the country has, it makes Vietnam one interesting market to access.
Vietnam type approval certification is one important document when we need to access Vietnamese market. This certification is legal evidence that the products already comply with Vietnamese standard. So, it’s safe and legal to be distributed and used within the territory of Vietnam. Then, how long this certification can be obtained?
Lead time of MoST Certification
Generally, Vietnam Type Approval can be processed through local testing approach. ICT product that we’re going to apply must get through RF and EMC testing in the local laboratories to make sure that the product complies with the local standard. After test are finished, there will be certification process in the NVTA (Vietnam Telecommunication Authority) side. VNTA is the government agency who performs consultative and regulatory functions in the telecommunications field. In VNTA, they will evaluate the test result and other submitted documents. One everything is declared okay, the MoST certificate will be issued.
Depending on the smoothness of testing process, usually RF and EMC tests can be finished in 5 weeks. This time can be longer if there’s any technical issue during the test. After test is finished, we need to submit the test report and other documentation to MoST for evaluation. Evaluation can take around 3 weeks, before the certificate can be issued. So overall, the whole Vietnam Type Approval certificate process can take up to 8 weeks (2 months) to finish.
Certificate Validity
After certificate is issued, this certificate will be valid for 3 years. During this three years period, applicant is free to import, sell, and use the product within the territory of Vietnam. Then, if after three years the product is still being imported, sold, or used in Vietnam, renewal would be required.
