The way buyers can identify whether the ICT product they’re buying has complied with local standard or not is through the conformity marking of the product. If there’s any conformity marking, then the product complies to the local standard. And it’s safe to assume that the product is safe to use with minimum interference.
This is also applied to Vietnam Type Approval certification, or what we usually know as MoST certificate. Once MoST Certificate is acquired, manufacturer must affix conformity mark or conformity label to indicate that the equipment has obtained the certificate and complied with the Vietnamese standards.
This mark consists of several components such as: CR Logo and “ICT” text underneath the logo (ICT stands for “Information and Communication Technology”). Beside the CR marks, there’s also certificate holder name, and certificate holder code. Name can be the name of importer, distributor, or local representative who hold the certificate. And the code is the code of certificate holder, which is obtained by registering the company to the VNTA (Vietnam Telecommunications Authority). Below is the example of the MoST certification label.
Regarding the scale and design, the following are the rules:

Regarding the dimension, there’s no fixed rule. Applicant is allowed to enlarge or shrink the label to be aligned with the product or packaging size. this is allowed as long as the aspect ratio is managed to be the same. Moreover, CR mark must be permanently affixed to the product, packaging, any technical document comes with the product, or on the label affixed to the product. The mark must be clearly visible, readable, not easily removed, and not mixed with any other markings. Regarding the color, it must be recognizable and not blended with the color of the surface where the mark is affixed.
Why We Care
Conformity marks must be presented correctly. Because it is regulated by the authority, violating the marking rules also potentially bring risks for the company. The risk can be varied from the company getting sanction, certificate withdrawal, product recall, and many more. It depends on the case. Therefore, we need to follow the marking rules correctly. By affixing the correct marking, the product can be safe from market surveillance. It will be easy for both inspectors to know that the product has been certified by MoST. So that they will pass the inspection. Besides, from buyer’s point of view, it will be easier for buyer to know that the product they’re buying has complied with the local standard. So, realize it or not having Vietnam Type Approval conformity mark will also increase product value, especially for the Vietnamese buyers.
